Position Summary: The Assistant Dance Coach assists the Head Dance Coach in the organization, development, and implementation of all aspects of the university dance team program. This position primarily focuses on providing instruction, support, and guidance to team members to enhance their technical skills, performance abilities, and overall dance experience. The Assistant Dance Coach also collaborates with the Head Dance Coach in recruitment, scheduling, and administrative tasks related to the dance team. Responsibilities: Assist in planning and conducting regular practice sessions, rehearsals, and performances to enhance the technical proficiency and artistic expression of dance team members. Provide constructive feedback, instruction, and encouragement to individual dancers and the team as a whole to facilitate skill development, teamwork, and performance quality. Collaborate with the Head Dance Coach to create choreography for routines and performances, ensuring alignment with team goals, themes, and performance opportunities. Assist in the recruitment and selection process for new team members, including attending auditions, evaluating candidates, and providing input to the coaching staff. Support the coordination of travel arrangements, competition logistics, and other team events in collaboration with the Head Dance Coach and Athletics Department staff. Assist in the development and implementation of strength and conditioning programs, injury prevention strategies, and overall wellness initiatives for dance team members. Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that values diversity, sportsmanship, and personal growth among team members. Assist in the management of team budget, equipment inventory, and uniform distribution in coordination with the Athletics Department. Serve as a representative of the university dance team at campus events, community engagements, and promotional activities as needed. Stay informed about current trends, techniques, and standards in dance education, performance, and choreography through professional development opportunities and networking within the dance community. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Dance Coach or Athletics Department leadership to support the overall success and growth of the university dance team program. Qualifications: Collegiate dance and/or coaching experience. Irregular work hours such as weekends, holidays, and evenings are to be expected. Multilingual skills highly preferred.
