The University of Dayton's Athletics department invites qualified applicants to apply for our Assistant Football Coach Intern opening!
The Assistant Football Coach Intern will assist the head coach in nearly all aspects of leading our Division I, FCS team. The assistant coach will primarily instruct, train and coach student-athletes about the collegiate game and skills required; will instruct student-athletes for purposes of academic, social development, compliance requirements, and safety and health considerations; assist in recruiting quality student-athletes; assist the head coach in program leadership - such as team composition, competition strategies and peak performance. This position will engage in team operations, including travel arrangements and video needs; will perform additional duties related to coaching (e.g., compliance education, budget management, equipment procurement, and other duties as assigned by head coach). UD Athletics employees are expected to comply with all laws, policies, rules and regulations governing the University, the NCAA and the Pioneer Football League. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate expertise in all aspects of coaching student athletes and a commitment to the highest ideals of leadership, sportsmanship and academics. The UD Athletics Internship program is designed to expose the highly motivated individual to all aspects of a Division I athletic program. Strong performers have the opportunity to be considered for permanent positions within the division if and when they become available. This internship has a one year with an optional renewal. This internship will require some evening and weekend work. This is a full time, 10 month position with benefits. Salary is commensurate with qualifications.
Bachelor's Degree
Intercollegiate-level playing or coaching experience
Valid driver's license, maintains a low risk driving record and is insurable by the university
Able to demonstrate excellent written communication skills
Able to provide demonstrated ability to interact effectively with a diverse student-athlete and staff population

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:
Experience playing or coaching defensive line or linebackers in college
Experience with video equipment, editing and strength training
Experience with Microsoft Visio, PowerPoint, Excel, and DVSport
Able to demonstrate excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Experience in working collegiate sports camps
