POSITION SUMMARY:
The Assistant Director for Academic and Student Services assists in providing comprehensive academic advising and support service programming to his/her assigned varsity student-athletes.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinates and monitors academic progress toward degree of assigned student-athletes (primary programs are men’s and women’s basketball)
Assists with coordination and supervision of Study Hall and Tutorial program
Advises assigned student-athletes regarding major curriculum, graduation requirements, University policies and procedures
Identifes, creates and implements learning initiatives for at risk student-athletes
Communicate/Liaise with professors, academic advisors, coaches, athletic department personnel and campus constituents regarding academic progress/deficiencies, team travel and special needs
Compiles and maintains academic records/reports
Understands and adheres to all NCAA, Atlantic 10, NEC and University policies and procedures
Perform duties evenings, nights and weekends as necessary
Team Travel as necessary
Other duties/projects assigned by Assistant Athletic Director for Student Services.
Completes other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in a related field with 2 years of experience in Intercollegiate athletics required.

Demonstrated experience with, and understanding of, the broad diversity of the University community (students, faculty, staff and others).
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the University Community.

Preferred qualifications:
Master’s Degree from an accredited institution in a related field and 3 or more years of experience in a Division I Academic Support Program preferred.
Learning Theory knowledge and improvement strategies
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationship(s) with student-athletes, administrators, coaches and campus constituents
