PURPOSE
The Assistant Director of Athletic Academic Services advises current and prospective student-athletes concerning academic requirements, provides mentoring and coordinates tutoring and study hall programs, works with stakeholders regarding academic advisement and student success activities, and oversees academic progress per University, Conference, and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) rules. They will additionally serve as Tutor Coordinator and oversee all tutors and academic coaches as well as serve as the SAAC Advisor.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Advising - 70%
Advises current and prospective student-athletes concerning their academic requirements. Provides mentoring for students.
Provides mentoring for students.
Oversees Sports as assigned by the Director of Athletic Academic Services
Coordination - 10%
Coordinates with departments on efforts related to student success
Coordinates with the Office of Student Success to implement tutoring, learning skills labs, etc., to ensure student-athlete academic success. Utilizes the Office of Student Success to develop strategies to assist at-risk student-athletes.
Works with University stakeholders regarding academic advisement-related activities. Oversees academic progress, athletic progress, and attendance reports.
Develop, coordinate, and maintain athletic academic success initiatives with institutional programs.
Training & Supervision -15%
Hire, train, and coordinate all aspects of the tutoring program. Supervise tutors and Academic Coaches.
Oversee office and program assessment as well as new hire training.
Serve as backup in the absence of the Director.
Recruitment - 5%
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Master's degree
Six (6) years of related experience in DI or DII Academic setting.
Additional education/experience may be considered for the minimum requirements.
Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office Suite.
WHAT THEY WOULD LIKE TO SEE
Master's degree
Seven (7) years of related experience in DI or DII Academic setting.
SALARY RANGE: $48,000 - $53,000/annually, depending on education and/or experience.
