POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting directly to the Director of Athletic Medicine, the position's primary responsibility is to perform a variety of duties involved in the administration, evaluation, treatment, care, and rehabilitation of USF Student-Athletes with the focus of responsibilities on the sport of Football (Sr Associate Athletic Trainer). These duties to be performed while adhering to all NCAA, Conference, and Institutional rules and regulations. This position also educates student-athletes on preventative measures to avoid injuries and illnesses. This position is under the direction of the team physicians and in accordance with the Florida Athletic Training Practice Act.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides immediate medical attention for all types of injuries sustained by student athletes including non-life threatening and life threatening injuries. Administers proper first aid and medical care within scope and protocol. Responsible for the evaluation of the nature, scope and/or extent of injury and provide appropriate referral when necessary. Administers treatment and rehabilitation under the Operational Protocol. Required to attend all home and away football contests, scrimmages, practices and workouts.
Develops injury prevention programs which may include operating therapeutic modalities, reconditioning exercises, and flexibility programs. Educates student-athletes and coaching staffs on injury prevention.
Administrative duties including but not limited to- Epic medical records, facility maintenance and safety of machinery/equipment, oversight of Assistant Athletic Trainers and Resident Athletic Trainers.
Serves as liaison between coaches, parents, physicians, student-athletes, athletic trainers, strength and conditioning coaches and other athletic department personnel
Performs other duties or projects as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum of four years related exempt experience, including two years of supervisory experience.
FLSB1310 equivalency:
Four years of directly related experience can be substituted for a Bachelor's degree.
PREFERRED:
Master's degree in related field from an accredited university. Five or more years of experience with University and/or Professional athletics.
SPECIAL SKILLS/TRAINING:
Licensed (or eligible) to practice as an athletic trainer in the state of Florida, NATABOC certified.
