BASIC FUNCTION: The Assistant Director for Broadcast Operations and Digital Strategy is responsible for the management and creative direction of all Stags Sports Network broadcasts including but not limited to ESPN3/+ productions, Facebook live and Sidearm Sports. This will be an average of over 130 broadcasts across multiple platforms annually. This position will manage on-air talent, freelance staff, interns and student workers on game days in collaboration with the athletics external operations team and university media center. The role includes the management and care of all athletics broadcast equipment and developing a plan to forecast future needs to consistently enhance live athletics events. This position is the liaison with the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) for all ESPN/live stream productions.
UNUSUAL WORK CONDITIONS: Required to work weekends and evenings as well as occasional travel.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL NEEDED:
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree from accredited four-year college or university
EXPERIENCE: 2 years’ experience in athletics broadcast productions, with a specific focus on ESPN broadcasts. Demonstrated knowledge of the broadcasting field. Experience with video editing systems and Adobe Creative Suite.

REPORTS TO: Deputy Athletics Director
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Primary point person for all ESPN productions including:
Management of student and freelance staffing for game day
Development of a comprehensive technology plan for routine maintenance and replacement of all audio and video equipment
Game day responsibilities of set-up, producing and directing all production needs
Work with on-air talent for optimal game presentation
Inventory/organize all game day production equipment to ensure proper care
Point person for any linear/digital television opportunities that occur during each basketball and lacrosse season
Direct and Manage all Stags Sports Network broadcasts
Includes the management of student workers and freelancers
Manage, assess and organize all audio and video equipment
Set-up all broadcast equipment at venues as needed on game day
Create graphics to maximize the viewership experience throughout each broadcast
Produce creative content (videos and motion graphics) to assist communications team in sharing athletic and academic success
Create videos to drive engagement on social platforms and FairfieldStags.com
Focus on content that generates high levels of engagement on social media platforms
Integrate videos into broadcast segments to connect audiences with the accomplishments and achievements of Fairfield’s varsity sport programs
Assist the Fairfield University Media Center with large-scale broadcast events such as undergraduate and graduate commencement
Provide event support as directed by the Fairfield University Media Center
This position is a dual report between athletics and the Fairfield University Media Center
Participate in the professional development of the department.
Communicate effectively with supervisor concerning pertinent departmental matters
Monitor developments within the broadcast/video/digital field through membership in professional associations, attendance at workshops and seminars, and in the reading of professional literature
Promote a courteous image as a university representative
Attend departmental staff meetings as requested
Ensure student-athletes, individual and team efforts, are recognized Perform efficiently in all work-related functions
Support the university and departmental mission, vision and cultural commitments, including participating in community service activities as possible
Promote safe and secure working conditions.
Promote the proper utilization of equipment and materials
Notify supervisor immediately of any unsafe working conditions
