Position Information

 

Hiring Department : UTEP Athletics Department 

Posting End Date: Open until filled.

Hours: 40 hours per week, standard Monday- Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm, flexibility is required on evenings and weekends

FLSA status: Exempt

Earliest Start Date: As soon as possible.

Salary : $74,000

Purpose of Position

 

Summary:**  ** Serves as the primary video lead for both live production and on-demand content creation.

Statement of Duties and Responsibilities:  

 

Conceptualize, develop, and execute full-scale video productions for game streams, telecasts and other live event broadcasts as well as on-demand content to be distributed on the department’s website, social media channels or shared with external media outlets for transmission. 

 

Actively manage video projects from conception through completion, including planning, scheduling, budget considerations, staffing, capturing, post-production and eventual distribution of content. 

 

Serve as the executive producer for all live event broadcasts, leading the video team in the multi-camera production of athletic events, ensuring all standards outlined by broadcast partners, such as ESPN, are met.

 

Collaborate closely with the conference office on all video requests, expectations and requirements, including successfully fulfilling streaming obligations.

 

Develop or implement provided game formats and through pre-production planning, fully utilize the broadcast time to run commercials, implement sponsor elements, and air department storytelling pieces or features.

 

Act as a leading voice for creative strategy and development, collaborating with other internal units to produce unique, captivating and branded content that furthers the department’s overall goals.

 

Produce various styles of video content including commercials, sponsorship pieces, hype videos, team intro videos, and short-form and long-form storytelling. 

 

Help lead in the ideation and development of in-venue video content that creates a premier game day experience.

 

Manage the setup, in-game direction and maintenance of all video boards and broadcasting equipment at various facilities. 

 

Work with sponsorship unit to identify and integrate sponsorship elements into video content and other digital media.

 

Obtain feedback from internal stakeholders on creative content to help shape messaging.

 

Provide insight on emerging trends in social, digital media and in-venue entertainment, helping to advance the department’s engagement and game day experience goals.

 

Expertise in video editing and using software such as Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects. 

 

Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software.

 

Ability to work with a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, as well as available for possible travel with sport programs for select away games or other out-of-town events required by the department.

 

Strong organizational skills, work ethic and strict attention to detail.

 

Complies with all State and University policies.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree.

and

Experience: Four years working in a college athletics video department or similar setting. Proficiency in capturing, editing and producing video content. Experience working in a broadcast crew and serving in various roles (technical directing, directing, producing, graphics, replay operation, camera operation, audio, etc.) as well as operating all associated equipment and software. Familiarity with various video board operation systems and hardware (i.e. Daktronics). Knowledge of ESPN 3 and ESPN+ broadcast standards. Ability to effectively communicate with colleagues, teammates and individuals requesting content. Working knowledge of the NCAA rules, guidelines, and principles.
