The Assistant Director, Broadcast/B1G+ will work as a member of the Intercollegiate Athletics Broadcasting and Production staff and be under the direct supervision of the Director, Broadcast/B1G+. The Assistant Director, Broadcast/B1G+ is responsible for assisting with the live broadcasts of Maryland Athletics on B1G+. This position will manage student staff training for operations of B1G+ streams and the Big Ten Network (
BTN
) needs, such as coordinating press conferences, studio operations, live stream proposals, and talkbacks. Will be responsible for building game day graphics and other elements to be included in broadcasts.
This position will also oversee DV Sports operations for the Maryland Athletic Department. This will include hiring personnel to operate the DV Sport systems for games that utilize replay. Set up replay systems for use in games. It will also be the point of contact with DV Sport or other replay systems that come into use.
The Assistant Director will also collaborate with other Broadcasting and Production (B&P) unit members with content creation, graphic design, show production, etc, on non-B1G+ events as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, Production, or related field.
Experience:
Two (2) to three (3) years experience in live production.
One (1) to two (2) years experience in technical directing and producing.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Understanding of trends in producing professional-quality live broadcasts.
Experience with
EVS
Replay, Ross Acuity, Carbonite Ultra, Xpression, Daktronics Show control, Sony Cameras, and other broadcast equipment.
Working knowledge of broadcast working standards and equipment, technical facilities, broadcast A/V, and IT production equipment and systems.
Knowledge of the DVSport Official Review replay system.
Preferences:
Two (2) to three (3) years experience in live production and one (1) to two (2) years experience in technical directing and producing at an
NCAA
Division I Power 5 university or within a professional sports environment are preferred. Experience working with students and interns on live productions.

(high dynamic range) broadcast working standards and equipment, technical facilities, broadcast A/V and IT production equipment and systems, including experience and exposure to file-based video recorders, production switchers, routing systems, intercoms, RF, cameras, audio mixers, transmission, and encoding equipment as well as computer networks and subsystems including Danté,
MADI
, and AES67 industry trends.

The scope of the position frequently requires weekend and evening work (Non-standard work hours). While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee operates a computer and other office devices such telephones, copy machines, fax machines, etc; Constantly moves about the facility and event site before, during and after events to service clients; constantly communicates via telephone, email and in-person with others to exchange accurate information. Standing, walking, kneeling/crouching, balancing and lifting up to 50 pounds (Transport of all video equipment, including cameras, tripods, projectors, screens, etc).
