The Assistant Director, Event Operations will support all aspects of internal event operations to successfully plan and execute events hosted by Arizona Athletics. This individual will develop plans, timelines, organize resources and staff, work with sub-contractors and manage all facets involved in an Athletic event. The Assistant Director will be responsible for game management of home athletic events and competition for assigned school sponsored sports including NCAA , Conference and other postseason championship events. Additionally, the Assistant Director will assist as needed any and all high school or special events being hosted at our facilities as well as any Conference or national championship celebrations.
This position requires the ability work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, and travel as needed.

Game Management:
Serve as Event Director/Manager at all athletic events for specific assigned sports teams. Direct event support at 3 or more sports annually.
Review and update event policies and procedures prior to upcoming athletic seasons and modify with ticketing, marketing, and Wildcat Club updates or pertinent campus, Conference, or NCAA policies.
Determine appropriate resolution to game day complaints and problems and work with staff for all guest experience / relations details.
Interpret, instruct, and effectively communicate complex rules, regulations, and guidelines to ensure sports events are played in a fair and uninterrupted manner, and safe environment for both teams and spectators. Focus game day attention on the integrity of the sport, teams, and working officials and provide event centered support to media and all guests.
Research and collect information, create guides for visiting teams and officials to provide basic local information identifying local hotels, rental car agencies, restaurants, theatres, places of interest, etc..
Oversee special events as necessary for sports championships, recognitions, or key assigned events (bowl game, high school championships).
Assist as liaison to specific food sub-contractors and vendors and observe all best-practices and update annually for health, safety, and rules compliance especially with the sale or alcohol in venues.
Must have a strong working knowledge of basic NCAA Compliance policies and work within said policies and ensure a culture of compliance.
Game Day Staffing:
Develop staffing plans for upcoming seasons to include both internal staff and security personnel and ensure plans are executed as designed. Work with internal department contacts on all event plans and liaison with campus or community groups as needed.
Create and maintain a season and game specific event plan and contact list for each sport.
Assist in oversight of 3rd party event staffing contract and medical teams, police, and security as needed.
Work with Director of Event Management of Student Worker/Intern Program.
Assist as needed with technical portions of hosting event such as ticket scanning, magnetometers, replay, clock operation, scoreboard operation and ancillary game day staff.
Credentials:
Manage annually the design, function, departmental need and distribution of credentials in conjunction with season events with the Assistant AD for Event Management.
Maintain seasonal list of personnel and entities that receive sports specific credentials and manage post-season distribution of credentials for working staff.
Special Athletic Events and Championship Events:
Assist in drafting of Letters of Agreement and Facility Use Agreements for special athletic events both on and off campus with venue owners, facility managers, caterers, decorators, sound companies etc..
Supervise overall event set-up and coordinate the management of each event assigned.
Design event programs, coordinate strategic seating arrangements. Coordinate, organize, supervise, and manage Conference, NCAA, or High School Championships and other championship events (i.e. bowl games) for specific areas.
Facilities Project Management:
Work daily with ICA Operations and Facilities staff and campus FM staff as necessary for flawless execution of events.
Plan critical updates for facilities, branding, and technology and work in connection with those staffs to fulfill key event requirement.
Assist with schedules and plans, as needed, for experience with ICA Capital projects associated with assigned sports.
Manage keyless security system access database (AMER-X) as well as update and maintain schedules weekly for all ICA venues.

Ability to effectively communicate with coaches, student-athletes, administrators, staff, and guests.
Ability to plan and organize work to meet established deadlines.
Ability to read, interpret, instruct, and effectively communicate complex rules, regulations, and guidelines (NCAA, Conference and University).
Ability to demonstrate planning, problem-solving, project management, quality control, data collection, public relations, and excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to influence and build work relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels.
Must be able to foster a participative supervisory style that utilizes teamwork principles to successfully guide the work of others.
Must possess a learning orientation to changing technology impacting business/sport processes.
Computer and related software skills, e.g. word processing, spreadsheet, internet, etc..
Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
Three (3) years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy .
Degree or minor in Sports Administration, Sports Management, Management or related field.
Prior manager, student-athlete, or intern experience in college sports.

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University’s campuses.
