The Assistant Director of Football Video is responsible for assisting the Director of Football Video with all aspects of video operations for the University of Kansas football program including but not limited to the filming of practice and games, importing opponent film and data, and general technological support of the coaching staff.

Duties and Responsibilities of all Positions at Kansas Athletics

1. Adhere to University, Big 12 Conference, Kansas Athletics, and NCAA policies and procedures;
2. Maintain knowledge of departmental activities, sports schedules, and procedures;
3. Foster cooperative working relationships with fellow staff members within the Department;
4. Support the athletics department goals and philosophies as described by the Director of Athletics and work to achieve and uphold the department’s mission statement and core values;
5. Maintain a positive attitude toward performing job duties and in working with other staff members;
6. Exhibit professional decorum at all times while representing Kansas Athletics, including routine events and meetings that occur outside of the office and on the road.
7. Maintain the confidentiality of all information obtained while an employee of Kansas Athletics including all private, confidential, or sensitive information and ensuring compliance with FERPA, HIPAA, and other applicable regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:

1. Assist with filming and editing the film for both practices and games utilizing the Catapult video software;
2. Work efficiently with all coach’s requests with coaching video needs and archiving said footage in categories as designated by coaching staff.
3. Work hand in hand with the Director of Video Services to develop a yearly strategic plan that involves knowledge of the newest platforms being utilized nationally, maintenance of current equipment and evaluation of any new needs, overall needs of the department to best serve the needs of the football staff currently and in the future.
4. Responsible for creating weekly game plan reports from Catapult and PFF systems to assist coaching staff in opponent breakdown;
5. Responsible for scheduling, supervising, and provided continued education on both HD and PTZ cameras to student video assistants; this includes the planning and organization of students during practice and daily workforce management;
6. For all road games, design the most efficient set-up for A/V needs for hotel meeting rooms. This could include the setup of tables, chairs, and speakers (when applicable) within the meeting room(s). This will also pertain to clinics, camps, official visits and various other events for football coaching staff and support staffs;
7. Utilizing the Catapult video software system, import film of games (NCAA, NFL, etc.) and resolve the data in the video database, including maintaining the video archives;
8. Assist Director of Football Video with away post-game workflow for editing film and the distribution of produced film (i.e., iPad) to the coaching staff;
9. Manage of all gameday systems and equipment through the means of maintenance and protection of the quality of both the gameday computers and cameras. This includes working in conjunction with both IT and stadium facility staff to ensure that the stadium replay system is properly connected to the cameras; spearhead the implementation and strategy of how best to take advantage of the new NCAA allowable in-game technology and make recommendations for further advancements to the system or equipment utilized; serve as the go-to person for this technology on gameday;
10. Assist with video services provided to student-athletes by distributing iPads, management of accounts, and fix technical issues with the cloud/app version of XOs as needed;
11. Provide technical support as needed to the football recruiting staff as permitted by NCAA rules and policies governing non-coaching staff members;
12. Responsible for complying with all NCAA legislation related to noncoaching staff members with sport-specific responsibilities which includes, but is not limited to, abstaining from providing any technical or tactical instruction on or off the field with any student-athletes;
13. Additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics, Head Football Coach, or their designee.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent GED;
• Minimum of three years of experience in football video operation, video editing, or related experience to video technology;
• Advanced knowledge of importing data and film into video editing systems
• Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot computer and technical issues in regard to video software, and general technical systems;
• Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication, organizational skills, and a strong ability to work collaboratively;
• Ability and willingness to travel as required by sport specific events and game day productions;
• Ability, and willingness, to work an irregular schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university;
• Experience in a Division 1 Power 5 football program;
• Knowledge of Pro Football Focus (PFF) and Catapult video software;
• Experience shooting on PTZ remote cameras;
• Uploading and trading of film through dragonfly software.

Base Annual Salary: Commensurate with experence, we offer a competitive salary with an excellent benefit package. This position is salaried, FLSA non-exempt, meaning it is eligible for overtime pay.

Work Environment

This job operates in both a professional office environment and outside at football-related events, including inclement weather. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and various digital devices, including, but not limited to: cell phone, printer, copy machine, and other related devices. This job requires flexibility and adaptability in schedule and the ability to perform job related duties on short notice.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This position may require frequent bending, moving, lifting, and carrying material weighing up to 50 pounds; standing up to eight hours each day; and working in all weather conditions.

Travel

Moderate travel is expected for this position.

Hours of Work

This is a full-time, salaried FLSA non-exempt position; eligible for overtime pay with advanced approval of the supervisor. Days and hours of work will vary based on the needs of the football program and as job duties demand. Early morning, evening and weekend work may be required.
