Travel within the state. Represent the university and promote the programs and opportunities available to students at high schools, college night programs, conferences, and other events as required.
Evaluate credentials submitted by applicants - reviewing admission essays, evaluating test scores, and conducting interviews to determine a student’s potential for success at Texas Lutheran University.
Make admission or denial recommendations based on a student’s academic credentials and other relevant factors. Such recommendations will be made with the goal of enhancing the academic standards and quality of the university and predicting the future success of the student.
Develop and implement an individual marketing plan. The plan will include knowledge of high school history; area alumni, clergy, and friends of TLU; competitors; and factors of influence.

Plan and carry out recruitment events that will attract quality students to the university and inform the public about programs offered by the institution.
Serve as guest speaker on higher education topics (e.g., the college search process, financial aid issues, scholarship services, etc.) for a variety of constituents, including but not limited to professional organizations, students, and parents.

Ensure effective and timely communication with prospective students, parents, and other constituents.
Investigate complaints or disputes on behalf of constituents and work with appropriate staff to resolve such issues. Significant matters may include, but are not limited to the following: financial aid, scholarship, or academic program issues; admission credentials and documents; residence life; etc.
Participate in short range departmental planning by offering recommendations for departmental functions and goals.
Anticipate and investigate competitive products, programs, and services and make recommendations that would enhance TLU’s competitive edge in the market.
Participate in the development of university publications, student handbooks, etc., outlining academic services and university policies.
Make large and small group presentations to prospective students regarding programs offered by TLU.
Facilitate prospective student campus visits and interviews.
Coordinate special projects as assigned.

Qualifications
Education Bachelor’s degree is required
Experience Between two and five years of related (higher education, public relations, or marketing) experience is preferred. The position title is

Physical Demands
Work is primarily sedentary. Some lifting is required (approximately 25 pounds).
Manual dexterity to efficiently operate a computer keyboard and other business machines is required.
Working Conditions
Work is generally performed indoors in a typical office setting. Travel, including overnight travel, is required.
Attendance at weekend and evening events is required.

This is an exempt position, which does not supervise other staff, but may supervise student workers.
