The Assistant Director for Marketing and Fan Engagement develops, coordinates, and produces a variety of marketing and engagement projects. The incumbent is responsible for creating and developing marketing and promotional plans and content for assigned sports, executing the production of gameday experiences and special events, The Kid’s Club, and The Cage. The position implements fan experience programming projects designed to increase visibility, drive revenue, and support LMU Athletics initiatives and operations. The Assistant Director writes and edits copy, coordinates visual and video content, and ensures quality of communications and events by defined deadlines, meeting branding and quality assurance guidelines.
Position Specific Responsibilities/Accountabilities
Develop and implement comprehensive marketing plans, projects, and content for assigned sports, covering a wide range of topics that concentrate on revenue generation (ticket sales and operations, corporate sponsorship activation, etc.), increasing attendance at athletic events, advertising, and promotion, on and off-campus community engagement and events, and elevating in-game experiences.
Oversee gameday execution of established marketing and promotional plan, being responsible for a broad range of tasks and activities that include, but are not limited to promotions, giveaways, crowd engagement, video, and game production, etc. for assigned home games. Emphasis on providing memorable experiences for fans and creating a home court/field advantage for LMU student-athletes.
Coordinate and support the creation and maintenance of the annual marketing calendar, identifying deadlines and objectives to ensure revenue and attendance targets.
Help utilize, operate, and maintain digital marketing systems that facilitate marketing and communications activities, including, but not limited to web content management systems, website analytics, social media management tools and dashboards, email management systems, ticket and fan databases, quality assurance tools, accessibility compliance tools, analytics and metrics tools, and other systems.
Research, design, produce, write and/or edit copy for marketing materials, including but not limited to: LMU Athletics websites, newsletters, publicity products, publications, or other marketing materials (digital, traditional, environmental). Triage incoming requests and determine urgency in an environment with dynamically shifting priorities.
Produce campus spirit campaigns, general awareness campaigns, recruitment campaigns, ticket promotions, summer camp enrollment campaigns, mascot promotions, and other campaigns as assigned. Recommend and support tactics that drive revenue, increase visibility, recruit and retain student athletes, and achieve LMU Athletics objectives.
Develop and coordinate the production of progressive, engaging content across LMU Athletics digital and social channels, devising and managing complex social content and engagement strategies. Serve as a content creator and develop personas and campaigns that increase followership, influence, and engagement. Ensure the integrity, quality, and consistency of the university’s voice, tone, style, narrative, visual identity, and brand.
Produce and manage LMU Athletics email marketing campaigns, collaborating with content providers and partners to ensure campaigns align with priorities and best practices. Create templates and engage in A/B testing for fine tuning and improvement.
Assist the Associate AD with managing and coordinating the student internship program and game day assistant assignments.
Manage the marketing and promotional aspects of The Kids Program. Oversee The Cage to increase student attendance. Work with lead student-workers to develop marketing plans that include promotional campaigns, tactics, and maximize campus partnerships.
Assist with the LMU Spirit Squad and mascot.
Proofread marketing and communications copy as assigned and that are time sensitive and may require immediate attention on an hourly, daily, and weekly basis.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Requisite Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, sports management, or related field required.
Two years’ communications experience in collegiate or professional sports beyond the candidate’s undergraduate experience required.
Excellent organizational skills, work ethic, and detail-oriented approach.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, and to work efficiently on short deadlines.
Demonstrated competency with common office productivity software suites (including Microsoft Office), creative production software (including Adobe Creativity Suite), email marketing tools, social media management tools, web content management systems, quality assurance systems, ADA compliance systems, and analytics reporting software.
Demonstrated experience managing and executing across multiple communications and marketing channels and media; highly developed skills in communications writing and editing;
