Assistant Director for Sports Information
Anderson University’s Athletics Department invite applications for a full-time position as Assistant Director for Sports Information. Anderson University is a comprehensive, liberal arts institution whose 400 athletes and 21 teams compete in the NCAA Division II, within the South Atlantic Conference. Anderson University is affiliated with the South Carolina Baptist Convention and candidates with a strong Christian value system and lifestyle are encouraged to apply.
The Assistant Director for Sports Information will assist with the publicity of the program’s 21 NCAA Division II varsity teams, coordinating interactions between the media, coaches, student athletes, and athletic administrators and will serve as a media contact, assisting athletic staff in developing and maintaining positive relationships with regional, national, and local media outlets and on social media. The Assistant Director will provide creative leadership and oversee the printing production of media guides, team newsletters, and other printed materials striving to attain maximum exposure of athletic events. Additionally, this position will report to and assist the Vice President for Athletics in event and game-day management by scheduling appropriate staff, accommodating media correspondents, and maintaining accurate information related to Anderson University Athletics. Website maintenance, writing press releases, and other similar duties may be assigned as needed.
The successful candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree, preferably in journalism or a related field, and be familiar with StatCrew and NCAA Live Stats software. Knowledge of NCAA rules and FloSport production guidelines preferred. Strong organizational skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills with at least two years of experience preferred in either athletics communications, marketing, or a journalism related field. Applicants should be proficient in desktop publishing software (InDesign, Photoshop, etc.) and Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, etc.). Must be available to work significant night and weekend hours when necessary.
