SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Assistant Director of Admission assists the AVP of Enrollment in advancing Schreiner University’s (SU) mission while meeting multi-year enrollment goals. Promote SU and its programs to local high schools, community colleges, businesses, professional organizations, University faculty and staff.

The Assistant Director of Admissions will be assigned planning and coordination responsibilities for major office functions such as Athletics, HSI Grant and recruiting events. Additionally, this position will provide services to communicate, evaluate, advise, convert and yield students to the University.

Essential Functions

  • Provide strategic direction, training, and supervision to Admission Counselors to achieve enrollment goals.
  • Recruit students in an assigned territory by determining the appropriate travel schedules and marketing initiatives to drive enrollment goals. This includes but is not limited to, high school visits, community college visits, large-scale university expositions, and other activities to gather leads. Being able to command both small and large audiences and speaking about Schreiner University in a professional style with influencing presentation skills is essential.
  • Use professional initiative to develop marketing and recruiting plan for assigned territories using the department’s resources. This includes creating strategies to meet enrollment goals as conditions and requirements of the marketplace change. Establishing long-lasting relationships with counseling professionals, parents, alums, and others is essential.
  • Must be able to speak and present to a broad and varying audience to effect and drive applications and admissions to the University. This includes interacting with high school and community college students, parents, counselors, school administrators, coaches, and others. To present both on and off campus and deliver a compelling case for enrollment at Schreiner in an individual and group setting. While attending high-volume expositions to recruit students, the Assistant Director must quickly formulate positive attributes of the University to effectively persuade and match potential students and families to our campus.

  • Evaluate applications for admission and scholarship determination. This includes reviewing the academic coursework of high school and community college students and determining if the academic record shows progress for admission at Schreiner. During peak periods, the Assistant Director is expected to evaluate 40-60 files per day and be an active member of the admission committee.
  • Must possess the flexibility and ability to operate in several databases simultaneously. This includes using Salesforce, Jenzabar, PowerFAIDS, and others. Must be able to navigate the systems to provide high customer service to the public. Must understand the parameters for running one’s own reports to monitor goal progress and use the data to make decisions in recruitment territory management.
  • Contact potential students via telephone, text, and email during and after regular business hours. Must respond to the requests for information to help students decide whether to attend Schreiner.
  • Be financially prudent and given the autonomy to make decisions that allow purchasing goods and services to drive enrollment needs.
