The successful candidate for this position will have the opportunity to join UTA during an exciting period of growth and contribute as the university broadens its impact.
Execute the strategic plan of the Associate AD for Brand Advancement, adhering to directives, planning and accountability and assist in daily execution of athletics communications plan.
Serve as the primary communication contact for selected sports (a combination, but not all, of the following: women’s basketball, baseball, volleyball, tennis, track & field/cross country). Serve as the website administrator for UTAMavs.com to ensure all non-sport pages are updated and accurate. Work with the creative content team to generate material and develop storylines for social media outlets. Disseminate information on UTAMavs.com, including game notes, press releases and other news stories. Report statistics, schedules, rosters and all other media needs in a timely manner to UTAMavs.com, the NCAA and Western Athletic Conference offices. Staff gameday roles for assigned teams and travel with teams as required. Archive and build up the historical database for assigned sports by digitizing old stats, rosters and team material for UTAMavs.com. Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree and experience in intercollegiate athletic communications, including areas of journalism, public relations, media services or new media strategies.
Experience in NCAA Division I Intercollegiate Athletics and website maintenance.
Strong writing and editing skills, content management systems (SIDEARM) experience, knowledge of statistical programming (Genius Sports and StatCrew). Software skillset includes Adobe products (Photoshop, InDesign, After Effects, etc.), social media publishing and analytics and photo databases (Photoshelter). Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays.
Office setting, press box setting, outdoor working environment at certain sporting events, team travel.
Ability to adapt to the ever-changing landscape of collegiate athletics.
