Leads and manages the daily operations and maintenance of Athletics buildings, including access to facilities via key and card access, maintenance scheduling and oversight, as well as general housekeeping and event support. Supervises evening and weekend building managers and front desk staff.
Bachelors or equivalent combination of education and experience
3-5 years of experience in athletics facilities operational management. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong management and supervisory skills developed from previous experience managing and directing the work of others. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills and ability to plan, coordinate and prioritize program components. Ability to work effectively, independently, and as a member of a team in a fast-paced environment. Willingness and ability to exercise judgment and initiative and to interact with athletics staff, athletes, and athletics patrons. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to plan work, set priorities, and respond to pressures, deadlines, and changes in schedules and priorities. Knowledge of athletics activities and facility operations. Willingness to work a schedule that regularly includes evening and weekend hours.

Key Accountabilities
Facilities and Operations Management Determines and provides oversight of day-to-day building maintenance and repair needs, including custodial needs and setting cleaning schedules for all athletic facilities. Works with Building Maintenance Technician to ensure that buildings mechanical operations are functioning as needed. Enters work orders to FO&M for general building maintenance needs, repairs, and event coverage. Follows up with shop supervisors to ensure the completion of work. Partners with the Assistant Athletics Director for Event Management and Operations to ensure all FO&M work orders, schedules and custodial needs are submitted to trades shops for all varsity athletics events and special events. Manages contracts with outside vendors and customers for special events. Assists the Deputy Director and Associate Athletic Director for Facilities and Operations with facility maintenance projects. Oversees routine building inspections to ensure facility rules and regulations are being adhered to and enforces proper safety procedures. Resolves facility problems; responds to user inquiries, complaints, concerns, and problems related to facilities, access, schedules, entitlement, maintenance, etc. Oversees staffing of building managers and determines coverage for all hours of operation. Develops policies and plans for coverage, including emergency fill-in. Develops and maintains policies and procedures for locker room management, including assigning lockers, collecting payments, and locker space inventory. Including oversight of complimentary memberships and lockers for VIPs/ Department and Retired staff. Manages key dispensation and card access control for all athletics spaces and determines appropriate access levels. Troubleshoots hardware and software problems related to card access systems required to enter all facilities. Develops and executes strategy for ongoing communication with facilities members and department staff about building schedules, closures, hours of operation, and other communications relevant to facility use and updates online platforms with relevant schedule changes and updates. Develops, implements, and enforces observance of operating policies and procedures in the DCAD pool and enforces proper pool safety practices. Supports other areas within the Athletics Facilities and operations department as needed due to absences. Supervise Aquatic Safety Coordinator and oversees pool daily operations such as cleaning and maintenance of the pool area.

Facilities and Operations Management Maintains and determines supply of inventory equipment needs and resources for Alumni Gym front desk and fitness center. Supervise, hire and train all student and short-term building management staff for Alumni Gym. Responsible for determining staffing (lifeguards) needs for pool coverage. Develops and implements the general plan and changes for facility operating hours and controlled access and determines adequate staff coverage. Provides information and necessary support services to other areas of the Athletic Department. Generates reports on the users and revenue of the membership, day pass, and locker sales.

Department Event Support Serves as Facilities/Event Manager for assigned scheduled events. Managing staffing needs, materials, and services requirements; organizing work crews and schedules; and overseeing facility set-up. Provides on-site direction and coordination to facility operations while events/activities are in progress and enforce observance of facility operating policies and procedures. Troubleshoots as necessary prior to, during, and after events. In conjunction with Assistant Athletics Director for Scheduling and Event Planning, provide support for outside events, camps/clinics, and rental logistics, including the appropriate documentation.
