Summary/Objective
The Assistant Director of Athletics / Director of Compliance will support the entire department of athletics in the areas related to Compliance. The academic progress of Lees-McRae student-athletes along with their recruitment and retention are specific to this position. The Compliance Department at Lees-McRae College is the hub for all internal and external recruiting, financial aid and admissions efforts for 21
NCAA
Division II programs, Two Division I Cycling teams, Two Division I Ski/Snowboard teams, and three club sport teams. The Assistant Director will serve as a member of the athletic department leadership team and oversee all efforts of the compliance office by learning, developing, and executing strategy for coaches in order to promote and market Lees-McRae’s student-athletes, teams, and the department. This position will also oversee certain athletic programs, the hiring of assistant coaches, manage game day operations, and serve as a liaison to the Faculty Athletic Representative. This is a full-time, 12-month position with benefits.
Essential Functions
Ensure compliance with the
NCAA
, Conference Carolinas, Southeastern Collegiate Cycling Conference,
USA
Cycling, the United States Ski and Snowboard Association, and Lees-McRae College Regulations.
Complete reports pursuant to
NCAA
, Conference Carolinas, and Lees-McRae College regarding graduation reports, sport demographics,
EADA
, etc.
Management and regular review of team budgets.
Lead internal areas in the Department of Athletics, including scheduling, game day management, facilities, and team conduct.
Serve as the primary liaison to the Student Affairs office (discipline, financial obligations, academic issues, and student-athlete welfare).
Serve as sport supervisor for selected teams.
Participate in campus committees as requested.
Participate in department and Lees-McRae College strategic planning.
Assist with manage game day operations in a variety of sports.
Supervise work study and student internship programs.
Maintain professionalism in communication internally with coaches, administrators, student-athletes, and student workers and externally with members of the Bobcat Club, colleagues at opposing institutions, and visitors to Lees-McRae College.

Work Environment
Normal office environment in addition to both indoor and outdoor athletic venues
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position12-month position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Frequent and weekend work is required as job duties demand.
Travel
Occasional travel is required for away game competitions, conference meetings, professional development, and visiting high schools for compliance information nights.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in sport management, communications, journalism, or another relevant major.
Work experience in compliance for a variety of sports.
Knowledge of
NCAA
Division II rules, financial aid, recruiting,
NIL
, etc.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
Must possess some experience in game day operations.
Preferred Education and Experience
Master’s Degree.
3-5 years of experience in intercollegiate game management and reporting.
Working knowledge of a
NCAA
athletic department.
