The Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance & Student Services is responsible for ensuring departmental compliance with all MSU Denver, NCAA, and RMAC rules and regulations. This position will provide leadership and oversight of a comprehensive Division II compliance program in all matters pertaining to the monitoring, interpreting, educating, documenting and investigating of all institutional, NCAA and conference rules and regulations; submit required NCAA and RMAC reports; and serves as liaison to the NCAA and RMAC on all compliance rules interpretations. This position is responsible for student-athletes’ academic success and developing strategies for achieving graduation. This position will also serve on the senior leadership team and will participate in the development and coordination of programs, policies, and procedures for all sports.

• Establish appropriate departmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all NCAA, RMAC and university rules and regulations.
• Provide rules education to both internal and external constituents to ensure a culture of compliance and institutional control at MSU Denver.
• Arrange and conduct preseason NCAA certification meetings to coordinate completion of compliance forms.
• Monitor progress-towards-degree and other NCAA, conference and university academic eligibility requirements.
• Develop, coordinate, and implement academic support services for student-athletes including: oversight and coordination of academic advising, course scheduling, major declaration, tutorial services, and meetings with student-athletes as needed to address academic concerns.

• Administer progress reports during the fall/spring semesters and conduct follow-up meetings with student-athletes and coaches to develop individualized academic support strategies.
• Prepare departmental and conference academic reports as well as complete all required conference and NCAA compliance reports (i.e. NCAA Academic Tracking and Graduation Rate reports).
• Collaborate with the Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR) to enhance communication and establish partnerships with members of the faculty, the offices of Financial Aid, Registrar, Admissions, and Academic Advising.
• Ensure accurate certification of initial and continuing student-athlete eligibility as well as the processing of student-athlete NLI/grant-in-aid agreements.
• Work with University Academic Advising to communicate to student-athletes about advising based systems and how to best utilize them for success (e.g. Degree Progress Reports, Student Hub, Student Success Collaborative-Guide and Campus, etc.)
• Maintain confidential student files as well as documenting all advising sessions using Banner Student Success Collaborative (SSC) program.
• Serve as liaison with NCAA Eligibility Center.
• File waivers and process releases (e.g. hardship, two-year college transfer).
• Monitor playing and practice season limitations for intercollegiate sports.
• Monitor receipt of recruiting logs for intercollegiate sports.
• Prepare eligibility lists for all intercollegiate sports.
• Assist with game day operations, event coverage, and team travel as assigned.
Perform duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Experience with web-based services such as LSDBI, CAi, and Banner.
• Must possess organizational skills along with the ability to work under deadlines.
• Demonstrated understanding of the eligibility requirements of student-athletes as established by university and NCAA regulations.
• Ability to work with a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree or other terminal degree
• Experience working in intercollegiate athletics, which includes experience implementing/leading an NCAA athletics compliance program, academic advising, or student services.

Salary for Announcement
The anticipated starting salary for this position is $60,000-$70,000.
Pay Grade:18
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
