Vassar College invites applications for the position of Assistant Director of Athletics for Facilities, Events, and Scheduling. This is a full-time, benefit-eligible twelve-month position funded partially through the NCAA Division III Strategic Alliance Matching Grant program. Weekend, holiday, early morning and/or late evening hours are required.
The Assistant Director of Athletics for Facilities, Events, and Scheduling serves as a member of the Athletic Director’s senior management team helping to coordinate facilities, events and scheduling for the college’s highly successful 25 varsity and 4 varsity club sports. This position will assist in projects and programs at the request of the Associate Director for Facilities and Events and the Director of Athletics and Physical Education.
Responsibilities
Event/Game Management
Coordinate all game/event operations associated with all athletic venues.
Develop and implement a coverage schedule and training/supervision program for designated game managers as well as student workers.
Oversee the hiring of student workers and scheduling of their hours. Provide work direction, expectations, training, and problem-solving assistance for student workers both prior to start date and throughout the academic year.
Coordinate event support with other offices on campus as necessary (i.e. security, parking details, etc.).
Be on-site and available throughout selected athletic events to assist with operations.
Scheduling
Assist in scheduling of all practices, games, and other events to be held in athletic facilities.
Manage department Event Management System (
EMS
) scheduling software.
Manage lighting and building access requests in support of scheduled activities.
Aquatics Coordinator
Oversight of all pool operations, lifeguards, maintenance and scheduling with internal and external groups.
In conjunction with the Associate Director, develop and implement an annual budget for pool operations, inclusive of maintenance, lifeguard staffing, and revenue generation.
Manage daily use of the aquatics venue and resolve issues/problems/questions.
Ensure facility walkthroughs are completed at the start and end of all aquatics use to ensure safety and quality.
Sport Camps/Clinics
Administrative oversight of all Vassar College sports camps and clinics (approximately 15-20 camps/clinics each year with annual attendance between 500 and 1,000 individuals.
Coordinate with appropriate campus offices in support of camps and clinics (Summer Programs, Residential Life, Dining Services, Health Services etc.)
Required
Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years relevant experience in any/all of the following areas: intercollegiate athletics administration, coaching, operations (facilities, event, and/or equipment management).
A valid and unrestricted driver’s license.
Extensive standing or sitting in one position for long periods of time.
Physical demands of being able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Preferred
Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and three or more years of relevant experience in all of the following areas: game/event management, game/practice scheduling, athletics administration.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and written/oral communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a diverse group of constituents.
The starting annual base salary for this position is $50,731- $60,000.(

).
