Job Title: Assistant Director of Bands

Summary: Assist Director of Bands with recruiting band members, managing the bands, fundraising, and hosting band events.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist with direction of both athletic and concert ensembles Coordinate and facilitate the operations of the university band program as directed by the Director of Bands.
• Hire, train and schedule student workers. Keep a detailed list of instruments, uniforms, and equipment along with a timeline for replacement.
• Serve as liaison with various campus offices (examples: Athletics, Foundation Purchasing, and School of Education)
• Keep data on sophomore proficiencies, senior recitals, faculty jury feedback, and similar data needs.
• Run the weekly Recital Attendance for Music majors and minors.
• Coordinate and facilitate all travel-related band operations - Planning, facilitation of meals, transportation, lodging, performance when it travels to pep band events, away football games, bowl games, tours, and other activities where the band will be traveling.
• Assist with large events such as: Tigerpalooza, OSSAA State Band Contest, Pre-State Clinic and Performance, ECOBDA Honor Band, Day As A Music Major, guest artists, and other events on campus that involve the Department of Performing Arts.
• Assist with fundraising projects for the band program.
• Travel throughout the state and region to recruit for the ECU Bands. This would also entail working with the various bands while out recruiting such as marching band, concert band, jazz band, and other ensembles.
• Assist or lead on campus recruiting events as needed

• Keep an updated list of high school band directors across the state of Oklahoma, North Texas Region, along with schools along the Arkansas border with Oklahoma.

II. Technical Competencies:
• Experience at either the Secondary or University level leading or assisting with a band program that includes a marching band
• Detail oriented
• Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines
• Able to communicate effectively and build rapport with students, faculty and staff
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in music (Masters degree in music may have the option of additionally teaching courses as an adjunct based around the area of specialty of the candidate)
