GVSU Athletics is seeking an Assistant Director of Communications.

PRIMARY DUTIES

Serve as the primary media contact for women’s volleyball, women’s basketball and women’s lacrosse, while assisting with additional sports. Handle all duties as related to the day-to-day operations, including but not limited to social media publicity efforts, creating and developing online content, writing news releases and feature stories, maintaining online record books and assisting with the production of various game day programs and flip cards. Execute duties associated with various home events and NCAA Championship events hosted by Grand Valley State University. Performs other duties as required/assigned by manager.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

• Exhibit a proficiency in standard industry programs, such as InDesign or QuarkXpress and Photoshop.
• Strong ability to utilize various types of social media, such as Instagram and Twitter
• Experience in SIDEARM website editing and statistical programs, such as NCAA Live Stats and Statcrew, is also a plus.
• Valid driver’s license is required and a MVR needs to be conducted upon hiring.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree
• One year of experience in the sports information field in a college or professional sports setting, or equivalent

WORKING CONDITIONS

Normal office environment. Some travel may be required. Nights and weekends are required.

Salary: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00/year
