JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Director of Learning Services will assist in co-managing the tutoring and mentoring program. They also will support the department’s programming by identifying student-athletes academic skill sets and designing the systems to help them achieve their desired academic outcomes. Successful candidates will have an understanding of UDL (Universal Design for Learning), multicultural pedagogy, and educational psychology including, but not limited to, educational testing and assessments. This position will assist in the hiring, training, and managing of the students who comprise Student-Athlete Success Program's (SASP) tutoring, mentoring, and coaching staff. This position will have a specific caseload of student-athletes. They will be responsible for the development and execution of individualized learning plans (ILPs) through the creation of goals and education on strategies to achieve goals. They will work in collaboration with committee members to design and implement a successful summer bridge program. This individual will provide learning support for both basketball programs as well as study hall oversight. This individual will work within the University of Connecticut, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) general rules and regulations, and all standards regarding academic integrity.
This position functions in a fast-paced environment, with a flexible schedule to include nights and weekends as needed. The incumbent must possess excellent communication skills, adaptability, and the highest personal and professional integrity standards. This position requires attention to detail and aesthetics and a strong knowledge base of Microsoft Office, especially Teams and Google platforms.
