EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

• Promote the mission of Catawba College to all faculty, staff, students and to the community at large
• Develop, implement and supervise the strength and conditioning programs for each sport program at the College
• Assist in the production of outcomes-assessment and long-range planning for the athletic department
• At the direction of the Director, design and implement strength, agility, speed, flexibility and conditioning programs for assigned teams and student-athletes
• Supervise workout sessions for assigned teams
• Assist in supervision of staff, graduate assistants and interns
• Assist athletic training in injury prevention and rehabilitation
• Instruct proper exercise technique for strength and conditioning
• Make recommendations for the purchase of new equipment
• Maintenance and cleaning of equipment and weight room
• Coordinate with strength and conditioning staff to ensure the program instruction and design methodologies for sports are consistent across the department
• Adhere to all NCAA, Catawba College and South Atlantic Conference rules
• Complete all required institutional and program accreditation reports and other reports as necessary for the operation and advancement of the College
• Other assignments and duties as assigned by the Director.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. You will be required to work occasional irregular hours, including some nights and weekends.

About Catawba College:

Founded in 1851 in Newton, North Carolina, Catawba College was established by German pioneers. In 1890, Catawba became a coeducational institution. In 1925, the College moved to its current location in Salisbury, North Carolina, strategically located just 45 minutes from Charlotte, Greensboro, and Winston-Salem and within two hours of the mountains and fours from the coast.

The Smokestack, a reclamation of the College’s old coal power plant, will be renovated according to Living Building Challenge stands and will provide an additional 10,000 square feet of student space. A new 150-bed residence hall is scheduled for completion in August 2026, and two additional residence halls are being renovated.
