George Fox University's Athletic Department is seeking a driven and innovative individual to serve as our Assistant Director of Sports Information and Marketing
About the Job:
The Assistant Director of Sports Information and Marketing will support the Athletic Department Administration in promoting and marketing the University's Athletics programs continually, assisting in the operation of a department that sponsors 21 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III varsity sports and two emerging sports.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assisting the Sports Information Director (SID) in developing, implementing, and updating an annual plan to promote 21 NCAA Division III intercollegiate athletic programs and 2 emerging sports, including game day administrative responsibilities.
Overseeing six to eight programs, including creating stories and social media graphics, coordinating promotional materials, and assisting with creating and editing video highlights and promotional packages.
Assisting in developing and maintaining the Athletic Department website and social media presence, and implementing a creative content calendar.
Supervising, writing, editing, and designing assigned athletic publications (media guides, game programs, pre and post-event stories).
Coordinating and training the statistics crew, maintaining current and accurate statistical files and historical archives for each varsity sport, and providing statistics to the NCAA national office, the Northwest Conference (NWC) office, and the media.
Managing a student team responsible for stats, tickets, graphics, storytelling, and other game-day responsibilities.
Assisting the Associate Athletic Director with planning, developing, and executing assigned athletics events, including conference championships.
Working closely with Marketing and Communications (MarCom) to align the athletic department with the University's marketing mission and coordinate with other offices and departments on campus, including Admissions. Staying up-to-date, knowledgeable, and compliant with all NCAA and NWC rules and regulations.
When available, supervising student workers and/or event management staff.
Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
Demonstrating awareness, respect, and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc. and works well with a variety of people.
Other duties as assigned.
We're looking for candidates who have:
A Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Sports Management, Marketing or Communications; a Master's degree is preferred.
A minimum of 2 years of Sports Information, Marketing, or Sport Management experience (in a small college or university setting, is preferred).
Excellent event management, organizational, and writing skills.
Specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities: Desktop publishing skills related to producing publications are required. The ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop Illustrator, and Stat Crew.
The ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing, including on the telephone, and to understand and follow instructions.

Preference Will be Given to Those Who Have the Following Attributes:
A Master's degree in Journalism, sports management, marketing or communications.
Experience working in collegiate athletics.
Job information:
Hours Per Week: 40 hours (1.0 FTE)
Position requires irregular office hours including after-hours and weekend work to attend competitions, practices and university events.
Out-of-town travel required to support and promote the department.
Primary Work Location: Newberg Campus
Working Conditions: Physical requirements are those of normal office conditions with some outside work consistent with game management responsibilities.
