_ TITLE _
Assistant Director of Sports Information
_ JOB SUMMARY _
The Assistant Director of Sports Information will assist in all aspects of media and sports information relating to Texas Woman’s University intercollegiate athletics. The Assistant Director of Sports Information is required to abide by the rules and regulations established by TWU, the Lone Star Conference (LSC), and the NCAA. Additionally, this person will abide by rules of other governing bodies for the TWU competitive sport teams. Work is performed under general supervision and performance evaluation is based upon completion of assignments and results obtained. The performance evaluation is conducted through the performance evaluation system and in accordance with the University Policies & Procedures.
_ ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS _
Reports to: Assistant Director, Athletics Communications
Supervises: No supervisory responsibilities
_ ESSENTIAL DUTIES - _ May include, but not limited to the following:
Serves as primary communications contact for athletic teams as assigned.
Produces media guides, game programs, press releases and supporting materials.
Performs required game day duties.
Works directly with the NCAA and LSC for all sports information related matters including but not limited to statistics, awards, department acknowledgements, legislation, etc.
Maintains and updates the TWU athletics website.
Maintains permanent and complete records for Pioneer athletic programs.
Serves as social media manager.
Collaborates with campus departments and organizations to enhance participation in Athletics events.
Collaborates with University Advancement in executing sponsor obligations.
Oversees implementation of TWU, Lone Star Conference and NCAA rules and regulations pertaining to game management activities.
Works collaboratively with coaches and staff to promote and market events.
Serves as the designated event administrator for assigned home events.
Disseminates necessary information to visiting teams concerning trip procedures (i.e. Guide for Visiting Teams, maps of campus).
Assists the Assistant Director of Athletics for Communications in developing and managing budgets for comprehensive communications aspects of department.
Supports and participates in the department's commitment to community service.
Commits to and is responsible for adhering to all rules and regulations set forth for the team, the University, the Lone Star Conference and the NCAA with the utmost integrity.
Works cooperatively with personnel in the athletics department, attends department meetings and activities, and always represents the University positively when interacting with the community, alumni, high school and club coaches, media and general public.
Interprets and assists in recommending and execution of updates to policies and procedures for department as needed.
Completes other assigned administrative duties in a timely manner.
_ ADDITIONAL DUTIES _
_ EDUCATION _
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Sport Management, Athletic Administration, Business, Marketing, or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
_ EXPERIENCE _
(Regular) Two years of relevant experience in a similar role within an Athletic Department or in higher education. Additional job-related education may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-ear basis.
(Entry Level) No experience required.
_ REQUIREMENT _
Regular and reliable attendance at the University during regular scheduled days and work hours is an essential function of this position. All employees share the responsibility of maintaining information security and privacy requirements within the university by adhering to Federal and State regulations, and TWU Policies & Procedures.
_ KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES - The following are essential:_
Demonstrated skills in writing event previews, recaps, and feature stories.
Demonstrated ability to manage large amounts of information with accuracy.
Demonstrated computer competency and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), StatCrew statistical software, Genius Sports NCAA Live Stats (NLS), Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign and Photoshop) and other campus databases.
Ability to take initiative in organizing programs, planning events, preparing materials, and interacting effectively with members of the athletic department and the campus community.
Demonstrated knowledge and ability in supervising, advising, training, and evaluating of student employees, volunteers/interns.
Effective and professional communication skills, both written and verbal and ability to write and edit, preparing all documents efficiently.
Ability to multi-task, plan, organize and execute day-to-day operations; work under deadlines and maintain a detail-oriented and highly confidential approach to each task.
Ability to prioritize and delegate the flow of work daily.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to use a personal computer and other office equipment, including related university software and email.

Supervisors and employees should ensure that injury/accident reports are submitted to the Office of Human Resources and Risk Management within 24 hours of the incident.
