General Information:
James Madison University, a Division I Member of the NCAA and Sun Belt Conference, is seeking an Assistant Director of Sports Nutrition. This position is a full time position with a comprehensive benefits package. Anticipated start date is July 1, 2024.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Autonomous management of nutrition services for primarily football, in addition to providing nutritional assistance to additional sports programs, including, but not limited to individual and team education, medical nutrition therapy, hydration protocols, supplement review & management, team travel, coordination of and presence at team meals, and oversight of the fuel station and budget.
Collaboration with sport coaches, strength and conditioning coaches, and athletic training staff to optimize student-athlete care.
Collaborate with other Sports Dietitian with implementation of all-team education utilizing a variety of platforms, including social media initiatives, cooking classes/food demonstrations, grocery store tours, and development of print materials.
Assist with mentoring and oversight of student volunteers, paid student workers, and dietetic interns.
Contribute to a team effort by welcoming new and different work requirements and explore new opportunities to enhance the services of the department.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nutrition
• RD or RDN credentials
• Experience working in college athletics
• Experience working with high-risk student athletes (eating disorders, mental health concerns, etc.)
• Experience with managing student employees and volunteers
• Positive attitude, strong communicator, and willingness to grow within the profession
