Job Description
Under the supervision of the Director, the Assistant Director will carry out the Office of Student-Athlete Academic Services' mission of supporting the Boston College academic community and Athletics Department in our pursuit of student-athlete excellence, student-athlete formation, and a just society by remaining committed to integrity, ethics, and honesty.
The Assistant Director will serve as an academic counselor to an assigned athletic team(s) by providing ongoing academic and student formation consultations while monitoring and tracking the academic progress of assigned student-athletes. As a result, this position will collaborate with faculty, colleagues, and Athletics Department personnel to ensure student-athletes have the support services needed to achieve academic success while participating in intercollegiate athletics. This position will develop graduation, student success, and career plans by collaborating with university academic advisors and campus partners.
Furthermore, this position will lead the SAAS Academic Enrichment Program as the program coordinator for content tutors, educational assistants, and all hourly employees while scheduling and coordinating tutor and academic support appointments. As a result, this position will facilitate day-to-day academic services while recruiting, training, and supervising hourly employees consistent with College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) standards. Through collaboration with colleagues, this position will develop individualized academic plans and coordinate support services, including study hall, writing support, academic mentoring, and tutorial services.
Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $67,100 to $83,900; salary commensurate with relevant experience.

Master's degree required; 3 - 5 years of previous experience working with students in an educational setting, preferably in an intercollegiate athletics environment; Teaching, higher education, academic advising, counseling, academic support services, or related field.

Demonstrated ability to problem-solve, troubleshoot, and coordinate multiple tasks; Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills; Must be proficient in Microsoft Office/Google Suite, specifically Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets, and capable of utilizing student success tools, such as Navigate (GradesFirst), Teamworks (Retain). Knowledgeable of NCAA and conference rules and regulations and capable of working with a diverse population of students, employees, faculty, coaches, and prospective student-athletes.
