Under the direction of the Head Equipment Manager, the Assistant Equipment Manager will manage in the day-to-day equipment operations for all 19 Division 1 sports. This person is responsible for Assisting the Head Equipment Manager with ordering, distributing, collecting, maintaining, and laundering of uniforms and equipment of all 18 intercollegiate teams.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Assist the Head Equipment Manager with equipment orders for assigned intercollegiate teams.
• Manage issuing and fitting of athletic equipment for specific sports (if needed).
• Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the equipment room location of assigned teams including laundry and inventory of equipment.
• Manage equipment needs of visiting teams and game officials when necessary.
• Prepare all relevant teams for game day with jersey issuance and retrieval.
• Performs other site and position-specific functions as assigned.
• Position is full-time hourly with some overtime. This is dependent upon the sports seasons and will be limited each pay period.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs or more.
• Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays and travel on an as-needed basis.

Required Skills

• Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of inventory control/accountability, budget preparation, and management are required.

• Computer knowledge required. Knowledge of equipment trends, proper fitting of athletic equipment, and laundry equipment operations is required.

• The ability to multitask, be flexible, and adapt to change.

• The ability to have problem-solving skills and be able to communicate effectively with coaches, student-athletes, and other athletic staff.

• Strong coordination, organization, and communication skills.

Work Environment: This position works out of multiple equipment rooms (Athletic Training Center, Edmunds Center, Melching Field) throughout Stetson University. It is a fast-paced environment where you will be working both inside and outside.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree and/or one (1) year of athletic equipment room experience required.

• Must have knowledge of various sporting equipment, safety standards, and proper maintenance of said equipment.

• Must be a member of AEMA or working toward certification.

Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record as determined by the University’s auto insurance carrier.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications : The ideal candidate’s qualifications include:

• AEMA Certification.
• Experience with Equipment operations.
• Experience working in collegiate or professional equipment departments.
• Must be willing to learn the ordering process with BSN Sports and Nike.
