For Assistant Equipment Manager position:
The Assistant Equipment Manager maintains the athletic supplies and equipment used by university athletic teams and ensures equipment rooms are in order. Essential functions include but are not limited to: laundering uniforms and other equipment as needed; receiving and issuing sports supplies and equipment to coaches and players; conducting inventory of supplies and equipment; preparing supplies and equipment for travel with athletic teams; and setting up and stocking locker rooms with appropriate equipment for home and away games.
Olympic Sports Equipment Manager position: the above plus:
The Olympic Sports Equipment Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of up to 22 Olympic teams, managing 12 to 16 teams on a daily basis. Duties include purchasing; advising coaches on creating and maintaining an equipment budget; and ensuring that all equipment complies with safety regulations and
NCAA
guidelines. In addition to managing their teams, the Olympic Sports Equipment Manager is responsible for supervising 12-20 student workers, providing direction and assistance to the Assistant Equipment Manager, and overseeing Kaplan Equipment & Laundry room operations.
AEMA
Certification must be obtained within one year of the hire date and must be maintained.
Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. This position may be subject to overtime during high peak times, etc. as directed and approved by the supervisor.
Frequent weekend, evening, and occasional holiday hours are required.
Frequent seasonal travel is required.
This is a restricted position subject to the continued availability of funding.

For Assistant Equipment Manager:
Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Prior experience with athletic events organization and planning, inventory management, and/or logistics.
Proficiency with MS Office suite including Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, and internet search engines, in addition to a commitment to expanding computer skills and the use of technology to enhance operational efficiency.
Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills;
Demonstrated ability to organize and clearly document the inventory and purchasing process;
Ability to communicate and work effectively with enrolled students, administrators, and coaches.
Olympic Sports Equipment Manager, the above plus:
Two or more years of full-time equipment experience.
Experience in an athletic department maintaining equipment.
For Assistant level:
Knowledge of
NCCA
rules and regulations relative to equipment purchasing, allocation, and retention;
Experience using a Vinyl printing machine and software; and using a Heat Transfer machine and the associated process;
Basic sewing skills for garment alteration and repair.
Olympic Sports Equipment Manager, the above plus:
Familiarity with the eVA purchasing system utilized by the State of Virginia
Experience working with vendors, coaches, and student-athletes, and/or conducting comparable business operations.
Knowledge of team and individual sports and their related equipment needs; knowledge of storage procedures, inventory procedures, and the ability to repair sport specific equipment.
Hybrid (works remotely at least 1 day per week but not full-time)
Remote work eligibility is not guaranteed and is subject to approval. Employee eligibility depends on the likelihood of the employee succeeding in a remote work arrangement and the supervisor’s ability to manage remote workers. Departments and/or Human Resources may amend, alter, change, delete, or modify eligibility.
$40,000- $50,000
All hiring rates are commensurate with relevant experience up to the advertised amount considering internal alignment.
