| Job Summary |
- Eastern Washington University is currently seeking an Assistant Football Coach.. This position is housed in the athletic department and will report to the Head Football Coach and ultimately the Athletic Director or sport supervisor. It is the responsibility of the Assistant Football Coach to work closely with the Head Coach to design, organize, implement, facilitate, oversee and evaluate all facets of a Big Sky, NCAA Division I assigned sport program. Several components of this job include, recruiting, and public appearances. This position provides educational, monitoring, and supervisory components as well as working within a shared facility. This person will work closely with the athletic department support staff, equipment staff, sports medicine staff, sport & recreation center staff, Assistant Athletic Director for Academics, and the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance. Will also work collaboratively with relevant constituent groups.
- It is the responsibility of the Assistant Football Coach to study and know all policies and procedures integral to Eastern Washington University, Big Sky and NCAA rules compliance. The desired candidate will assist in the direction, develop and management of all aspects of the assigned sport program including, but not limited to, recruiting, talent evaluation, coaching, training and development of student-athletes within the team concept, scheduling, supervision of additional staff and monitoring academic progress of the team.
- Rules compliance is an important responsibility of this position. Employee shall support and comply with all applicable rules and regulations of the NCAA, the Big Sky Conference, and other established bodies that govern intercollegiate athletics and the University. In the event the Employee becomes aware, or has reasonable cause to believe, that violations of rules compliance may have taken place, Employee shall report same promptly to the Athletic Director, Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance, or their designee.
The salary for this position is $40,000 (minimum) up to $100,000. Where the hired candidate will begin within this range is dependent on education, experience, and skills. | Required Qualifications |
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum of one (1) year experience working in a collegiate football program or commensurate experience.
- Obtain First Aid/CPR/AED certification within the first 60 days of employment.
- Pass the NCAA Coaches Certification Test for off-campus recruiting within 30 days of employment and annually thereafter.
- Experience and knowledge of all applicable rules and regulations of the NCAA, the Big Sky Conference, and other established bodies that govern intercollegiate athletics and the University.
- Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility and/or diversity.

Assist in the administration, planning and organization of appropriate preseason, in-season, and post-season programs, including practice planning and scheduling. Prepare weekly game-plans in season and implement necessary changes to scheme as needed. Meet with Head Coach and other staff members daily to plan practices, competition, and other team matters. Communicate problems, issues and program improvement ideas to the Head Football Coach.
