Job Description

To assist the head coach and coaching staff with daily administrative duties pertaining to a Division I football program as the assistant head coach andworkingasthe corners coach. In the absence of the head coach this position assumes the duties of the head coach.

Responsibilities:

• Assists the Head Coach with the daily administration, management and operations of the football team and work as the Quarterbacks.

• Monitors the compliance of all NCAA and SWAC rules and regulations. Reports any violation of these rules and regulations that arise to the proper official.

• Attends coaches' clinics, workshops, conventions and continuing NCAA Rules. Training to be abreast of changes and to remain informed of current events.

• Assists in recruiting for the football program by seeking out and attracting prospective student-athletes from high schools and junior colleges.

• Assists in monitoring the academic progress of all student-athletes participating in the football program and performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelors Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Three years of coaching experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.

• Collegiate level player skills and experience.

• Knowledge of computer applications, software and spreadsheets.

• Good Organizational Skills.

• Good and Effective Communication Skills.

• Good Leadership Skills.

• Ability to mentor young male student-athletes.

• Ability to work with others.

Special Requirements:

• Applicants with equivalent experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree may be considered. One year of the related experience is the equivalent of one college year. Applicants being considered for the equivalency must have four years of related experience to meet the equivalency in lieu of a bachelor’s degree plus the minimum required years of experience. Applicants being considered for the equivalency must have a total of seven years of experience.
