The Athletic Department is a vital part of student life and the educational process at Elizabeth City State University. It provides a well-rounded schedule of college athletic competitions designed to encourage participation by the student body. The department encourages physical fitness and the development of physical skills and emotional control.
The Assistant Coach will be responsible for supporting the Head Coach in assigned aspects of administering the football program, including coaching, recruiting, and public affairs.
Ability to evaluate and recruit highly skilled student-athletes.
Ability to effectively analyze and teach the fundamental skills and strategies of the sport.
Ability to assist the Head Coach and staff to continually analyze the team, including strategy, planning, devising a scout team, game plan development and adjustments to ensure peak performance.
Ability to monitor strength and conditioning of athletes.
Ability to interact in an effective and appropriate manner with diverse populations, the University community and the public.
Ability to efficiently operate a personal computer and associated software (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) and Banner to maintain accurate files on paper and in software programs.
Ability to comply with all policies and regulations of the University, conference and NCAA.
Ability to work in concert with Head Coach and other Assistant Coaches to lead and motivate student-athletes.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Bachelor’s degree required with a minimum of 1 year of collegiate coaching experience or 3 years of high school coaching experience. Working knowledge of Division II, NCAA, CIAA, and University rules and regulations. Demonstrated expertise in coaching football.
