The University of Akron, a NCAA Division 1Provide assistance with the recruiting, advising, and administrative initiatives of the University's football program. Provide instruction and coaching to an assigned area while monitoring the academic, athletic, and emotional development of student athletes.
Essential Functions:
Provide instruction to athletes regarding specific football techniques for the purpose of preparing and developing the players on special teams.
Assist with the recruitment initiatives of the department by encouraging talented student athletes to enroll in the University's football program.
Monitor and promote the academic progress of student athletes. Assist with the football program's public relations and fundraising initiatives.
Coordinate numerous practices, meetings, summer camps, summer jobs and other special activities necessary for executing a successful football program.
Establish and enforce departmental policies while collaborating with coaches and staff to implement new game plans and developmental programs.
Education:
Requires 18 months of education beyond high school. A relevant Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Experience:
A minimum of 1 year experience coaching or playing football at the Collegiate level and/or as a Head Coach at the High School level preferred. Strong communication and motivational skills required. Knowledge of NCAA rules, including eligibility and recruiting rules and regulations preferred.
