Job Summary
The Assistant Football Coach reports to the Head Football Coach. The primary tasks are to assist the head coach in organizing, recruiting and providing leadership to the players and coaches. This position will also be responsible for fulfilling a secondary administrative duty. This position is defined as an exempt position under
FLSA
regulations.
Specific Responsibilities
Identify and recruit quality student-athletes for the football program
Develop and implement organized practices and game strategies
Coordinate fundraising opportunities as determined by head coach
Monitor and track academic progress of student-athletes
Adhere to all
NCAA
and conference rules and bylaws
Fulfill a secondary administrative duty as assigned
Develop positive rapport with athletics staff, as well as SU community.
Represent the university to various constituents in a professional manner
Education
Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred.
Experience
Three years of football coaching and recruiting experience required. College level experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Deep understanding of and passion for the game of Football; Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to build strong collaborative relationships. Requires ability to multi-task and attend to detail. Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work with current students and parents, prospective students and parents, and staff and faculty in a professional manner. Ability to use technology and equipment specific to the sport.
Additional Requirements
This position requires a valid driver’s license, the ability to drive and qualify under the university’s insurance carrier when driving a university and/or leased vehicle.
CPR

AED
and First Aid certification also is required.
NSCA
certification preferred. This role is identified as one that includes significant interaction with students and/or campus activities, and/or has oversight for disciplinary procedures. Therefore, you are considered a Campus Security Authority (
CSA
) and required to report any Clery Act crime disclosed to you and remain compliant with annual
CSA
training requirements.
Physical Demand
Position requires the ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time. Position requires the ability to move about the campus. Position requires the ability to talk and to hear instruction ability to frequently convey detailed or important instructions and ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly. Position requires lifting, pulling, pushing: Exert up to 50 pounds for force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires travel. Work is indoors and outdoors.
