McPherson College is seeking one assistant football coach. This is a part-time, 12-month, exempt position. This position is eligible for college benefits and housing.

Reporting to the Head Football Coach, the successful applicant will be responsible for developing, implementing, and teaching the defensive and/or offensive strategies and techniques for the football program. The position is expected to recruit, manage, and coach collegiate student athletes. The position will have various other tasks and duties within the program as assigned by the Head Football Coach. The successful applicant must follows eligibility rules and procedures as set forth by McPherson College, the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC), and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). This position provides the support necessary for the student athletes to be successful in their academic as well as athletic endeavors and performs the coaching duties in a teaching manner.

Education: A baccalaureate degree is required.

Experience: Two to three years’ experience with coaching football, preferably at the collegiate level.

Interpersonal Skills: Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communications skills are required. Must have the ability to connect with and work well alongside the coaching staff, various members of the athletics department and campus, and student athletes. Must be able to lead and manage all aspects of a player position group. Must be able to help student athletes grow and develop academically, athletically, and socially. Must be willing and able to manage and recruit an area of assigned high schools, preparatory schools, and community colleges.

Other Skills: Must be able to use Outlook, Google Drive/sheets, hudl, Word, and Excel. Graphic design skills are a plus. Must have a functioning cell phone.

Physical Skills: Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in light to moderate work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (10-25 pounds). Tasks involve demonstrating competitive football techniques and plays, requiring standing, moving, bending and jumping.
