Job Summary: The Assistant Football Coach assists the Head Football Coach in directing offensive/defensive activities of the football program within the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division II (NCAA II), Great American Conference (GAC), Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU), and SWOSU policies, guidelines, and procedures. The Assistant Football Coach is responsible for maintaining high academic standards to support the academic development and graduation of student-athletes while focused on student-athlete welfare. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Provides support services to the program in a manner that professionally, cordially, and efficiently assists students, faculty, staff, and visitors Assists in successfully directing the football program to compete for GAC and NCAA II championships Assists in the planning and direction of practices, travel, and game activities Assists, as delegated by the Head Football Coach, in preparing and managing the administrative functions of the football program Successfully retains, develops, and graduates high-performing football student-athletes Assists in community engagement and donor relations by promoting the football program within the priorities of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. Assists with the preparation, organization, design, and implementation of effective practice plans, off-season programs, scouting reports and recruiting systems Assists in limited recruitment of student-athletes Educates and instructs student athletes in the fundamentals of offense, defense, and special teams Maintains a culture of personal accountability in student-athlete academic performance and conduct Maintains consistent compliance with NCAA II, GAC, and SWOSU policies, rules, and regulations Other duties as assigned Competencies: Ability to multi-task, organize, manage time effectively, and keep tasks appropriately prioritized Remains knowledgeable applicable regulations, policies, and protocols Proficiency in efficiently and promptly organizing and handling tasks Ability to be involved with the community, donors, and maintain positive public relations Ability to work with, assist, lead, and take directions from others in the interest of operating SWOSU Football to its optimal efficiency Work Setting: Reports to Head Football CoachExpectation of on-campus presence with attendance and punctualityAvailable to assist with situations during or after working hours whether in-person, by phone, or email contactPromote personal safety, safety procedures, and a safe work environmentFull-time status12-month appointmentExemptGrant Funded About SWOSU: With locations in Weatherford, Yukon, Sayre, and online degree programs, SWOSU is one of the leading regional universities in the country. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree Preferred Qualifications: Two years coaching experience at the college or high school level Demonstrated commitment to promoting and inspiring academic excellence Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the President of SWOSU or their designee may find appropriate
