Assistant Football Coach – Defense
Franklin College, an NCAA Division III institution and member of the Heartland Collegiate
Athletic Conference, invites applications for an Assistant Football Coach – Defense.
This full-time, 10-month staff position includes assisting the Head Football Coach in
recruiting and coaching duties. Primary responsibilities include serving as leading
recruiting efforts for the football program, consistent with the goals of the institution,
and coaching a position on defense. Secondary duties will be assigned by the Director
of Athletics at a later date and will involve the management or oversight of a particular
area of the Athletic Department which may include, but not be limited to: gameday
management, student employment, intramurals, strength and conditioning, or other
necessary duties as required.

Assists the Head Coach in building a successful men’s football program in a

Works collaboratively with departmental colleagues and institutional colleagues;
Collaborates with other coaches on a daily basis;
Facilitates direct coaching activities during practice and competition;
Designs, creates, and facilitates a strength training program for all FC Athletics;
Prioritizes and organizes recruitment activities for the program;
Abides by the rules, regulations and philosophies of the College as well as any
affiliation rules and regulations which may be applicable to the sport;
Promotes a culture of compliance with NCAA, conference and institutional
regulations;
Prioritizes student-athletes in academic success and overall campus experience;
Follows and abides by all safety rules and regulations;
Other duties as assigned;
Supervisory Responsibility:
General supervision is received from the Head Football Coach and Director of Athletics.
The choosen candidate will exercise supervision over a limited number of assistant
coaching staff and student workers.
Required Education and Experience
o A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university;
o A minimum of two (2) years of football coaching experience at the
collegiant level with preference for experience coaching on defense;
o Basic computer skills including a working knowledge of the Microsoft
Office Suite and the ability to use and manipulate spreadsheets;
o Self-motivated and able to work with little supervision;
o Strong organizational and communication skills;
o Ability to interact with a variety of students and staff;
o A passion for active student engagement in learning.
