Job Description

Position Summary: The assistant coach works under the supervision of the head football coach and Defensive Coordinator. Individuals are responsible for assisting in the comprehensive day to day operations of the collegiate football program. Candidates are required to excel in communication skills, punctuality, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities: • Assist the head coach in developing defensive game plans, strategies, and tactics to optimize team performance during practices and games. • Instruct and mentor student-athletes on defensive techniques, skills, and positional responsibilities in alignment with team objectives and coaching philosophy. • Collaborate with the coaching staff to evaluate player performance, identify areas for improvement, and develop individualized training programs. • Recruit talented student-athletes by evaluating prospective recruits, establishing relationships with high school coaches, and representing the university at recruiting events. • Monitor the academic progress and personal development of student-athletes, providing guidance and support to ensure their success on and off the field. • Assist with organizing and conducting team practices, conditioning sessions, and film study sessions to enhance player development and tactical understanding. • Foster a positive and inclusive team culture by promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and discipline among student-athletes. • Maintain compliance with university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations governing recruiting, eligibility, and athletic participation. • Serve as a representative of the football program within the university community and engage in fundraising, alumni relations, and promotional activities as needed. • Perform other duties as assigned by the head coach or athletic department administration. Qualifications: • Collegiate Football playing and/or coaching experience. • Irregular work hours such as weekends, holidays, and evenings are to be expected. • Multilingual skills highly preferred. • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred. • Previous experience as a collegiate or high school football coach, with a focus on defensive strategy and player development. • Strong knowledge of defensive schemes, techniques, and best practices in football. • Demonstrated ability to recruit and develop student-athletes with diverse backgrounds and skill levels. • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team environment that prioritizes academic success and personal growth. • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel as required. • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
