The Assistant Football Coach, Defensive Assistant reports into the Head Football Coach and Defensive Coordinator and assists in the management of a varsity intercollegiate sports program and team. Specific responsibilities include assisting the Head Football Coach and Defensive Coordinator on the Defensive side of the football team.
Essential Duties
Assist the head coach and defensive coordinator in the coordination of the defense; playbook, opponent scouting reports, depth charts, daily practice plans, player evaluations.
Breakdown and analyze all defensive and special teams coaching strategies of opponent. Perform video study of Bentley and opposing team plays to identify practice and game plan trends. Make recommendations for adjustments to Bentley’s practice and game plans.
Responsible for coaching a position group as assigned by the Head Coach
Create and analyze scouting and statistical data reports. Highlight predictive statistics that give the team an edge on the competition. Present data to assistant and head coaches.
Strategize and self-scout Bentley’s defensive and special teams’ game plans by analyzing trends and tendencies. Make adjustment recommendations to coaches in order to protect from weaknesses.
Research and analyze opposing team’s strategy, chart opponent’s tendencies and propose outcomes for success.
Identify and recruit potential athletes.
File scouting reports that detail player assessments and provide recommendations on athlete recruitment. Keep abreast of changing rules, techniques, technologies, and philosophies relevant toNCAARule changes concerning Football and recruiting.
Maintain a high level of professionalism on and off the field toward student athletes, other coaches, parents, administrators, and members of the community.
Must adhere to all policies and regulations and carry out any other duties that the head coach and defensive coordinator designates.

Other Duties
Assist defensive coordinator with video/breakdown analysis and scouting of opponents as requested. Train with student-athletes who may need additional time or individual coaching in order to maintain and improve their abilities.
Represent Bentley University in a professional way as host and visitor to other teams.
Assist with other administrative or coaching duties as requested by the Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator when needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in a related discipline from an accredited four-year collegiate institution.
2+ years football coaching and quality control experience at the intercollegiate or high school level or significant college playing experience.
Proven ability to provide mentoring and leadership to student-athletes and a commitment to student athlete welfare. Demonstrated knowledge of and adherence to NCAA/conference rules and requirements relevant to the conduct of an intercollegiate program.
Proven ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Excellent analytical, time management and decision-making skills.
Ability to work and/or travel, include evening, weekend, or limited overnight assignments. Must hold and maintain a valid, unrestricted United States driver’s license, with an insurable driving history as determined by Bentley’s insurance carrier.
Work Environment
The work environment includes standard office time, but more often time is spent outside on the playing fields at practices or games.
May require the ability to work in an outdoor environment in adverse weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.
