Job Description
The Assistant Football Coach & Defensive Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and directing all aspects of the defensive unit for the Texas A&M University-Texarkana football program. This position assists the Head Football Coach in building and maintaining a competitive NCAA Division II football program through effective coaching, recruiting, player development, game preparation, and adherence to University, Lone Star Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES** :**
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES** :**
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated experience coaching football at the collegiate or high school level.
Knowledge of defensive football schemes and techniques.
Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations, or ability to obtain such knowledge within 30 days of employment.
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to travel extensively and work beyond normal business hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold professional and ethical standards.
State of Texas or Arkansas class "C" vehicle operator's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment, including an acceptable driving record and periodic completion of van safety course, as required.
Physical Requirements
This position may be required to handle Protected Health Information (PHI) as defined by Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations, in accordance with System policy and is further required to complete FERPA and HIPAA training as a condition of employment, within a reasonable timeframe after employment and on an as-needed basis thereafter.
