About the Department

The University of Chicago’s Department of Athletics & Recreation endeavors to serve the broad range of fitness, physical recreation, and athletic needs of the University of Chicago community. Numerous open recreation opportunities are provided in the two indoor facilities: the world-class Gerald Ratner Athletics Center, which features the 50-meter Myers-McLoraine Swimming Pool; and the historic Henry Crown Field House, as well as the outdoor fields, courts, and running track. On an average day, approximately 2,100 students, faculty and staff use the athletic and recreational facilities on campus. The Department sponsors 20 NCAA Division III intercollegiate teams and 570 student-athletes in various sports. In addition, the Department sponsors more than 39 club sports and a diverse intramural sports program in which approximately 8,500 students participate each year.

Job Summary

Under the direction of the head coach, assists with planning, coaching, recruiting, administering, and promoting an athletics program within NCAA and University of Chicago standard. Recommends, plans, and implements new instructional, training, and conditioning programs. Teaches relevant skills to student-athletes during team practices, games, and individual/small group training sessions.

The Assistant Football Coach is a 6-month (August through January), temporary position with benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and organizes the details of the team including skill teaching and development, practice organization, coaching, and player selection.
