Purpose: To serve as the Linebackers Coach for the football program at Oklahoma Baptist
University (OBU) within the philosophy and direction of the Head Coach as well as
demonstrating a commitment to live out and advance the OBU mission statement through the
sport of Football. Must comply with all NCAA, Great American Conference and institutional
rules and regulations.

Essential Functions:

 The Linebackers Coach is responsible for the development and performance of the
linebackers unit. This position involves coaching student-athletes in techniques,
strategies, and game preparation while promoting a culture of excellence and teamwork.

 Key Responsibilities: Coaching and Development.
 Conduct position-specific drills and practices to enhance skills and techniques.
 Analyze game film to provide constructive feedback and improve player performance.
 Foster the personal and athletic growth of student-athletes.
 Game Strategy: collaborate with the defensive coordinator to develop game plans and

defensive schemes, scout opposing teams to identify offensive tendencies and
weaknesses.

Other Duties:

 Monitor the academic progress of the Linebackers.
 Player eligibility.
 Recruiting.

Required Qualifications:

 Previous coaching experience at the collegiate or high school level, preferably with

quarterbacks.

 Strong knowledge of football strategies and techniques.
 Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Education:

Required: Bachelor’s degree.
Preferred: Master’s degree.

Experience:

Required: Collegiate coaching experience.
Preferred: Advanced football knowledge.

Physical Requirements:

 Ability to carry at least 50 lbs.
 Ability to stand for long periods of time.

Special Requirements:

 Must be a member of a local evangelical* Christian church.

*Evangelical is a broad term referring to segment within Christianity which maintains the
authority of the Bible and the belief in salvation by faith in Jesus alone.
