SUMMARY/SCOPE:
Assistant Football Coach/Offensive Assistant – Tight Ends will be required to teach, supervise, and correct all techniques, schemes, and adjustments. Will also be a Special Teams Assistant (all phases).
Most important, will be a mentor and educator to help put our young men in a position to be successful on and off the field now and in the future.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directs conditioning of players to achieve maximum athletic performance.
Assesses player's skills and assigns team positions.
Assistant Football Coach/Offensive Assistant – Tight Ends will teach and coach all relevant aspects of football (techniques, schemes, etc.).
Identify and recruit the right type of person for HSU and for Cowboy Football.
Video Coordinator – maintaining and organizing all video for the program.
Recruiting: Recruit capable student athletes, develop professional relationships with high school coaches and high school athletes, this includes in person visits, computer databases, phone calls, on campus visits, and other recruiting tactics under NCAA and Hardin Simmons University guidelines
Assistant Football Coach/Offensive Assistant – Tight Ends will be responsible for coaching offensive position players, organizing, and supervising practices, meetings, game planning, film breakdown, game day assignments, assist in coaching special teams as assigned by Head Coach, and other football related duties.
Video and Computer Skills: Must be able to operate basic skills of computers, must be able to master complex video breakdown and editing system, this will include film exchange, updates, breakdowns, film cuts, etc.
Adheres to the code of conduct for coaches and athletes.
Adheres to guidelines established by department.
Follows the HSU Personnel and Safety Handbooks.
Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES (Language, Mathematical, Reasoning and Computer Skills):
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Project Management software; Human Resource systems and Contact Management systems.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; Master’s degree preferred.
Coaching: Must have football coaching experience at the high school and/or college level.
Recruiting: Prefer experience with evaluation, relationship building, and full recruitment of student athletes.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications required (or must be obtained).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This position is a full-time, Exempt Level staff position.
A minimum of a 40-hour work week is expected; times vary depending on practice schedules, game schedules, etc.
Work beyond a 40-hour week is often required during peak season.
Extensive travel is be required to travel to/from games during peak season.
Must have and maintain a valid Class C Driver’s License and maintain a clear driving record to be insurable under the university liability policy.
Must be able to drive to complete work assignments on and off campus, as needed.
Travel and irregular hours are required during peak season.
