Description of Job

This full-time, year-round position provides an assistant football coach/offensive coordinator for the football program in Athletics. This position provides support in the overall organization and management of the football program while reporting to the head football coach. In accordance with the vision of the head coach, the position is responsible for serving as the offensive coordinator; specifically coaching a position; developing practice and game plans, and training sessions; scouting opponents and creating a sound offensive strategy; coordinating the passing game; recruiting qualified prospective student-athletes; monitoring player academics and providing mentoring to student-athletes; monitoring NCAA compliance; promoting the CSU Pueblo football program; developing camps, clinics and fund-raising opportunities for football; and serving as an influential and effective leader, collaborator, and team player for the department. The position fulfills other duties as assigned by the head football coach and/or vice president for athletics.

Primary Duties

  • Serve as the offensive coordinator in collaboration with the vision of the head coach.
  • Coach student-athletes, including all team practices and scheduled games/competitions; develop game preparation and strategy; condition and train student-athletes, including skill demonstration, in order to develop skill, character, and teamwork in football. Ensure that all University, conference and NCAA rules and regulations are followed including student-athlete eligibility, recruiting, financial aid, scheduling and academic progress. Follow University procurement and travel policies. Work in collaboration with fellow coaches and staff under the direction of the head football coach.
  • Recruit highly qualified prospective student-athletes.
  • Monitor player academics, encourage academic excellence including student-athlete health, wellness and overall welfare.
  • Assist in the organization of camps and clinics; fund-raising opportunities; serve on committees that promote the success of the program and athletics; establish and maintain community relations and engagement that enhances the success of the program.
