Position Summary:
This position is responsible for assisting the football program and assisting in the management of the team’s recruitment.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for identifying and successfully recruiting viable prospects from assigned recruiting territories. This will include identifying prospects that can compete at a high level and area good fit for Benedictine University and Football Program. Other duties pertaining to recruiting include consistently reaching out to recruits via text, social media DMs, and phone calls to build relationships and help them progress through the recruiting funnel and ultimately leads to yielding quality student-athletes that fit our program and the university and can persist academically at the university.
2. Responsible to coordinate the offense that positions the program at a level of competitive leadership in the Northern Athletics Conference. This includes working with offensive staff and with the head coach to develop a weekly offensive game plan that utilizes offensive personnel to place them in a position to succeed/compete at a high level each week throughout the football season. Will also be responsible for scripting offensive practices, organizing offensive practice periods, and developing weekly scouting reports for the offense.
Will work directly with the admissions office and campus scheduling to schedule and organize and implement campus visits for prospective football recruits.
Responsible for tracking the academic progress of players in assigned position groups. Will assist with the retention of student-athletes through social and academic support services, consistently meeting with designated at risk student-athletes to support them academically and are on top of what they need to do in order to be successful in the classroom at Benedictine.
Other Functions:
1. Develop relationships within Benedictine University and the University community.
2. Attend departmental and University related meetings and events.
3. Maintain a positive student athlete assessment for program from student athletes.
4. Work in coordination with University offices and departments to coordinate and facilitate University events.
5. Maintain positive relationships with alumni, parents, students, officials, volunteers and fans.
6. Serve on University, conference and national committees as needed.
7. Positively promote Benedictine University and the Department of Athletics on campus and in the community.
8. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree Required, Master's Degree Preferred
Experience: Previous collegiate coaching preferred along with experience with strength training and conditioning programs.
Specific Skills: N/A
Specific Knowledge, Licenses, Certifications: Yes. Organizational skills, writing and typing skills, interpersonal skills, data entry and budget management skills and demonstrated supervisory skills. Certification in Strength Training (NSCA or CSCS). Valid Driver’s License required. CPR certification is required.
Physical Requirements:
May be required to lift up to 50 lbs. Must reach, bend, stoop, lift. Must sit, walk or stand for long periods of time.
Ability to handle varying levels of stress while maintaining professional demeanor. Possible lifting, bending, walking, kneeling, stretching, and stooping. Frequent districtwide and statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours; outdoor exposure to sun/heat or cold weather.
Ability to speak clearly so listeners can understand. Understand the speech of another person.
