Job Description

This posting is for a full-time, 11-month, exempt position. The position is responsible for assisting in administration of all areas related to the success of a Division II football program, specifically all items related to the total defensive phase of the football program, and promoting intercollegiate athletics at The University of Findlay. Maintain a thorough knowledge of, and abide by all NCAA, conference and institutional rules and regulations. Failure to do so may lead to suspension or possible termination. Attend all NCAA Compliance meetings as offered by the department and pass the NCAA recruiting examination annually.

Essential Functions

This position requires regular, predictable, reliable attendance in the office environment.

1. Defensive Line Coach.

2. Recruiting.

3. Supervising academic progress of student-athletes.

4. Scouting opponents.

5. Planning, management, and evaluation of football practice.

6. Developing strategy and bench coaching during games.

7. Assist Head Coach with game plan and coaching.

This position oversees athletes daily.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. In some situations, the noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Physical Demands

Walks, sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves continually during working hours. Is subject to lifting over 50 pounds. Must be able to lift raise or lower an object from one level to another (includes upward and pulling motion) of 50-75 lbs. and must be able to carry/transport an object/equipment weighing 50-75 lbs.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This job requires travel with the team to competitions and events. Evening and weekend work is expected.

Travel

This job requires travel with the team to competitions and events. Evening and weekend work is expected. A valid US Driver’s license with a safe driving record is required.

Required Education and Experience

1. Bachelor’s degree.

2. Two or more years of coaching experience.

3. Experience and knowledge in working with student athletes.

4. Experience and knowledge in evaluating football players.

5. Knowledge and understanding in regards to the game of football.

6. Public relations and promotion skills.

7. Knowledge of University and department policies and procedures.

8. Knowledge of NCAA and G-MAC rules and regulations, including recruiting, eligibility and certification.

9. Knowledge and skill related to strength and conditioning.

Preferred Education and Experience

1. Master’s degree.
