Responsible for the coaching and development of the student-athletes within the men’s and women’s golf programs. Assisting and learning all aspects of the program program including, but not limited to: scheduling, recruitment of student-athletes, budget management, equipment ordering and inventory.
Key Responsibilities:
•Teaches students the art, craft, and science of the sport of golf in both a practice and competitive atmosphere.
•Ensures goals are consistent with those of Roanoke College, the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, and the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III.

•Help to manage the budget for the program and track expenditures carefully.
•Develop and implement, with the guidance of the head coach, an effective strategy that supports the college’s ability to recruit qualified student-athletes.
•Maintains office hours conducive to accomplishing student-athlete mentoring responsibilities.
•Develops and directs an effective plan for ordering equipment needs for our golfers.
•Transporting student-athletes to and from competition in a safe manor using Roanoke College provided transportation.
Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:
•Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in related field preferred.
•Previous playing or coaching experience on the high school, club, or college level
•Has a positive mental attitude; an ability to handle adversity; and embraces our responsibility to develop young people.
•Ability to get along well with diverse personalities in a tactful, mature, and flexible manner.
•High energy level with an ability to work nights and weekends.
•Valid Virginia driver’s license and clean or near clean driving record to transport students and use college vehicles. Ability to safely transport team to and from events.
•Ability to act as a mature role model for young adults, effectively promoting the college and athletic experience.
•Ability to recruit 2-3 student-athletes a year or as needed to fill the roster.
•Well organized.
