The Assistant Coach – Women’s Wrestling is responsible for having an in-depth understanding of all aspects that relate to the Women’s Wrestling program, as well as the ongoing recruitment of and development of student-athletes at Life University. The Assistant Coach performs responsibilities in alignment with the department vision of being a leading institution in performance and meaningful student-athlete experience, and consistently demonstrates valued behaviors of respect, grit, constant growth, and integrity. This position will oversee the Women’s Wrestling program in the absence of the Head Coach.
Essential Position Functions
Have clear understanding of the values, strategy, and operational plan for the wrestling team under the leadership of the Head Coach.
Assist in the coaching/supervision of daily practices and on-mat development including off-season development. This includes meeting performance expectations for team.
Assist with recruitment activities for student athletes as directed by the head coach
Assist with the organization of team travel as directed by the head coach
Work with department administrators in respective areas to ensure the wrestling student-athletes are meeting their athletic and academic responsibilities
Assist in all efforts to promote the academic success and engagement of student-athletes including making progress toward their degree
As directed by the head coach, participate in meetings with the coaching staff, athletic trainers, and university staff to ensure coherent communication throughout the organization
Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach/Athletic Director
Fulfill campus liaison duties, if applicable, for entire Department of Athletics as assigned by the Director of Athletics
The Assistant Coach is also expected to work with the Head Coach in the successful execution of the deliverables for the Women’s Wrestling program:
Execution of business deliverables:
Successful planning and monitoring of program budget
Plan and execute fundraising initiatives
Oversee scholarship distribution to student athletes within allotted parameters
Maintain required roster size
Execution of performance deliverables:
Sustain a competitive program that competes within the conference landscape and competing for bid(s) to the national tournament.
Ensure a high level of academic engagement and performance in the classroom, resulting in a team GPA as set by the Director of Athletics, and the graduation of student-athletes.

Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree.
Previous collegiate coaching and recruiting experience.
Ability to demonstrate overall business acumen.
Basic knowledge of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) rules and regulations.
Ability to interact effectively in a collegial environment.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations
CPR/AED certified
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Two (2) years of experience in coaching and recruiting experience
Working knowledge and understanding of NAIA/NCAA rules and policies
Proficient with statistical/scoring software programs
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to lift/carry/relocate equipment and supplies to various locations for athletic events
Ability to drive to various locations
Ability to demonstrate skills/techniques to student-athletes
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work performed in various locations in and around the Life University campus, including athletic fields and gymnasiums
Travel required
Weekend & evening work is required. Must be flexible to accommodate a fast-paced and time demanding profession
