Directly Reports to: Head Swimming Coach

Job Purpose
The assistant coach will be responsible for assisting the head coach in managing all aspects of a competitive and successful NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Swimming program with the primary responsibility being to assist in planning and instruction of Swimming skills. The successful candidate must have a strong commitment to the academic success of the student athletes in the program that leads to graduation through a positive collegiate experience.

Duties and responsibilities

• Compliance with NCAA, SAC and Catawba College Policies and Regulations
• The assistant coach must be efficient at individualized and team instruction with emphasis on teaching all skills and strategies associated with the sport.
• Recruiting quality student-athletes that are committed to the Catawba College mission within the allotted scholarship structure and limits
• Commitment to and the management of program budget
• Coordinate and maintain regular communication with Catawba athletics staff, including the Director of Athletics, Compliance, Sports Medicine, Media Relations, Video, Strength & Conditioning, and Facilities Operations
• Provide academic support and oversight for all student-athletes
• Meet scheduling

• Practice and meet planning and implementation
• Student Athlete development and evaluation
• Assist with the supervision of an effective strength and conditioning program
• Managing travel (booking hotels, vans, buses, etc.)
• Developing and maintaining positive alumni relations
• Day to day program administration
• Preparing scouting reports, scouting/film analysis
• Actively assist with program fundraising and development of alumni and community relations
• Serve on campus and departmental committees as requested
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred
• Successful collegiate coaching experience is preferred
• Demonstrated expertise on deck with in pool instruction and knowledge of the sport
• Ability to recruit student-athletes that will be successful in the classroom and in the pool
• Ability to lead, mentor and motivate student-athletes
• Strong communication, organizational, problem solving and interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to produce and manage a competitive Men's and Women's Swimming program are important
• Developing and maintaining positive alumni relations
• Current CPR and First Aid certification required
• Assist with the maintenance of the pool
• Valid North Carolina driver's license required
