JOB SUMMARY: Gustavus Adolphus College, a private liberal arts institution and member of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC), is seeking a full-time Assistant Men’s and Women’s Track & Field Coach. This position is responsible for assisting in the planning, development, and administration of all phases of a competitive NCAA Division III track and field program. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to fostering a positive student-athlete experience and support the College’s mission of preparing students for lives of leadership, service, and lifelong learning.

This position is responsible for assisting in the planning, development, and administration of all phases of a competitive NCAA Division III track and field program. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coaching

• Preferred event experience/coaching in hurdles, high jump, multis, sprints or throws but best candidates regardless of events will be considered
• Plan and implement event specific training and competition planning appropriate to each athlete and event group.
• Support and promote the team expectations and vision of Gustavus Track & Field.
• Demonstrate leadership, sportsmanship and professionalism.
• Effectively communicate and work cooperatively with our coaching staff and athletic department.
• Assist Head Coach with all other duties as assigned.

Operations Support for Track & Field and Cross Country Programs

• Assist Head Coaches with the development of competition schedules.
• Lead/Assist in all aspects of team travel in regards to reserving buses, vans, hotels and team meals.
• Manage day-to-day operations.
• Assist Head Coach in all aspects of home meet and high school section meet operations.
• Communicate with coaching staff practice needs and reserve facility space.
• Responsible for registering athletes for meet entries weekly.
• Schedule and participate in staff meetings and arrange meetings with departments and external groups.

Prerequisites

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Ability to build positive relationships and communicate effectively with student-athletes and coaching staff.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and travel with the team as required.
• Knowledge of, and compliance with, NCAA Division III, MIAC and Gustavus Adolphus College governing rules and regulations.
• Previous experience as a college athlete or coach.
